1940 Nationals as a part of the CNE in Toronto coming in 3 rd for Junior boys. Said to be a distant descendant of Roger Askham author of the most famous treatise on archery, ‘The Witchery of Archery’.
In 1949 Jack, then living in BC started the Canadian Archer Magazine on a subscription basis for $1.25/year including 1¢ for postage. He continued publishing until 1957, when the reality of publishing 800 copies with 300 subscribers could no longer be sustained. The Archer would come and go many times until its last publication in 1997.
Jack shot at least 7 Canadian Championships throughout Canada and became President of the then Canadian Archery Association from 1962 to 1963. He hosted the Canadian Championships in Vancouver in 1962 with shooting on the famous Brockton Oval.
Jack retired from archery shortly after and took up golfing and moving to Vancouver Island. He visited with then President Al Wills in 2019 and was still golfing in his 97th year.
