Pat was a long-time member of Archery Alberta who didn’t shoot a bow. Pat and her husband (Ehor) lived in Calgary and were members of the Calgary Archers Club. She organized the provincial Junior Olympics archery program for the youth in Alberta. Four of her children enjoyed participating in the program and eventually were on the Canada Summer Games team for Alberta.
As a teacher, she knew the value of having proficient judges for competitions. She judged for over twenty years at the local, provincial and national level. She was always fair and believed that “close” calls should benefit the archer. One of her most famous comments to archers was – “If you wanted a ten, you should have shot a ten.” Her English accent gave the comment even more punch.
For many years, Pat trained and certified judges in Alberta. She efficiently held the position of Judge Chair on the Alberta Target Archers Association Board of Directors. She was a National Level judge who was highly respected across Canada.
